Hugo Helmig (24 July 1998 – 23 November 2022) was a Danish singer-songwriter who rose to fame with his debut single “Please Don’t Lie” in 2017. The song became the most-played track on Danish radio that year and also charted in Germany—marking the beginning of a promising career.
Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Hugo was the son of acclaimed musician Thomas Helmig and supermodel Renée Toft Simonsen.
Despite his early success, Hugo faced personal struggles, including mental health challenges, which led him to step away from music in 2021. He passed away in November 2022 at the age of 24. Known for his heartfelt pop songs and emotionally honest performances, Hugo Helmig left a lasting imprint on the Danish music scene.
